About: Borders General Practices

(as a service user),

I phoned the kelso health centre in the morning to make an appointment with a female doctor, I got an appointment for the same morning.

I arrived and checked in at the self service screen and took a seat in the waiting room, after waiting for 40 mins I went to reception and asked if it would be much longer, I was told the doctor had a patient who was taking longer than normal and there was still one more person to see before me, I said I couldn’t wait as I have clients of my own to see, so the receptionist asked if I would like to make another appointment? There was no appointments to give me for at least two weeks, at which point I said I will just wait today but the receptionist had already put in the system I had left.

This is the second time this has happened to me as I had an initial appointment with the doctor about 8 weeks ago and exactly the same happened.

I think it is an absolute disgrace that I am now two months into having an issue that could be serious and I just can not seem to be able to see a doctor, I realise the NHS is under great financial and time constraints but this is not a service this is just a waste of everybody’s time!

I am very rarely at the doctors and have always defended the NHS, but unfortunately this is not now the case.

I am deeply angry at my treatment the last two times I have tried to see a doctor and increasingly concerned about my medical issue but feel completely helpless, lets hope my condition does not get worse before I get to see a doctor, whenever that may be as I still don’t have an appointment.

I am sorry to hear about about your experience of Kelso Health Centre and that you are feeling helpless.

I have spoken to the assistant manager (Caroline Young) at Kelso Health Centre and she would be happy to look into your concerns. I encourage you to contact her on the email address below:

Thank you or replying to me even though it is 3 weeks later, I emailed Kelso health centre at the same time as I posted this, I don't recall seeing a reply.
