"Few issues for disabled guests"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

Of all the places in the entire world that you would think disabled access would be 'easy' or even considered would surely be the 'fracture clinic', right?

Sadly No! The only place you would expect to be able to park yourself in a wheelchair because you cannot walk due to a broken, foot, ankle, knee, hip etc surely would be at the fracture clinic! I was appaulled that I couldn't sit with my family, I had to sit out in the corridor against a wall away from all the seating area because there wasn't a single space or gap where I wouldn't feel inconvinent. There are crossed legs everywhere which leaves approximately a 15cm gap for you to drive down the isle. And even in the corridor you have to move because of beds frequently coming in to xray.

I felt utterly frustrated, worse still I had turned up 1 hour early for the appointment as I had travelled the width of Gloucestershire to attend. I was seen 25 mins after the appointment time so in total 1h 25 before I was spoken to. Then sent to x-ray to repeat the xrays done 3 days prior asa weigh bearing, which results in another wait and another waiting area - luckily a post without a chair provided a space to tuck in :( But I felt so frustrated by the time I was ready to go home. I'd been sent to the appointment due to an oversight by minor injuries unit who thought I had broken the bottom of the bone but they hadn't zoomed into the photo to see it was just a sprain.

I felt like a lot of time was wasted and a full day written off because I was there for over 2 hours.

They just need to place a placard up saying wheelchair area somewhere and make sure it's not in anyones way, the wall to wall chair idea is ok but it needs a gap somewhere so wheelchairs can park without being a hindrance.
