I have always prided myself on being a good walker. When going to school I always walked, when going to work when possible I walked to the station and at lunch time I walked in the city or town where I happened to be. So when I finished work I started walking the footpaths near my home daily (5 days a week). I have also had an allotment for most of my married life so I have been kept active.
However, these last couple of years I have been troubled with pain in the backs of both my thights. So after suffering for some time hoping to improve but not getting any better I went to my doctor. After two consultations, X-rays (which showed some wear and tear on my spine and hips) and blood/urine test, the wear and tear would appear to be the only problem.
I do miss the walking and would like to restart it but just now the discomfort is too much so when the doctor suggestion physiotherapy I jumped a the chance.
I started in November on a seven week course. The exercises were relatively straight-forward and although the course has finished I still continue them.
Unfortunately, I have not upto now found any improvement so I am hoping that further help will be forthcoming as a follow up to the 'back class'.
The course I was on was held in the Rotherham Community health centre. The instructor was Tony. He was very helpful, listened to what we had to say about our problems and how we're getting on with our exercises at home. So I think it was well run and have no qualms about following this up with a further course which was suggested. I have heard nothing further so far but it is early days at yet.
