"Accident and Emergency treatment"

About: Peterborough City Hospital / Accident and emergency

I attended the accident and emergency department about 9:00pm with my teenage daughter would had a nasty burn on the palm of her hand. We found the reception staff to be helpful and efficient, and quick to get my daughter an icepack to help relieve pain while we waited to be seen.

We did wait a while, but the hospital was busy.

The doctor saw us and was kind and courteous.

The hospital were quick to liaise with the specialist burns unit in Chelmsford and took photographs during the evening so that the hospital could see the injury too.

My daughter was given pain relief quickly and this was supplemented when necessary.

I thought the nurses and nursing assistants were calm, kind and gentle with my daughter who was quite upset at times.

Thanks to everyone she is making a good recovery.

We were asked to come back to the hospital 3 days later to have the dressing changed and the records were available and photographs on the system which made the whole experience easier.

Thank you for your help.
