"Very bad experience"

About: Acocks Green Medical Centre

I need an urgent appoint.but I couldn't get appointment from this surgery.Every time they put me in the cancellation and u never have a call from them.very worse experience. IT means if you are in emergecy then you have to go to the hospital.then what's the point to register with the GP.Sometime you need a doctor referral for the hospital. If they don't book appointment how you can get the referral.very bad experience. Not happy at all.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry that you have had a negative experience from our practice, I would like to take this opportunity to explain our appointment system, we have pre-booked appointments for every day which can be booked up to 3 weeks in advance, in addition to this we release daily appointments via telephone from 8.30am each morning. Daily we also enter patients onto our cancellation list, if a patient cancels their appointment we then work through the cancellation list and offer the patients the appointment. Some days we have no cancellations and other days we have multiple, we are trialing this process to assist our patients. However as a practice we have an increasing rate of appointments that patients do not attend for and this contributes to patients who require an appointment being unable to obtain one. This is very frustrating for the practice and clinicians and as a practice we are trying our best to reduce this figure by giving patient warnings of removal if they consistently do not attend. With regards to emergency care we are a primary care service and not an emergency service, if you require emergency care then we would redirect you to the hospital. With regards to having a GP, we are a primary care service and your GP manages all your care from both emergency, secondary care e.g. hospitals as well as community care, your GP provides an overarching review of your complete care, however if you are unhappy with the service that you receive from the practice you are able to terminate your registration by registering with another practice whom can best suit your independent needs and requirements.
