"Unsafe care"

About: St Austell Health Group

I asked to see a doctor was told to wait 5 working days for a call back. Never got to see a doctor instead I was told to come in for a blood test. When phoned for blood results was told my bloods were fine no further action required. I then asked why have I got swollen ankles and how can I be told no further action required when a doctor had not done a full assessment ie see the patient face to face. I was then given an appointment the next day. I was then told that I had deranged blood results ie poor renal and liver function even though I was previously informed that they were fine. I was then asked to have repeat blood test to do a more in-depth investigation. Again I phoned up for blood results and was told no further action was required. When I went to get a copy of my blood results it was evident from the lab report that the majority of the bloods were missing because the sample was contaminated. When I asked about having a repeat blood test the receptionist didn't know and failed to seek advice . I was also told that the doctor had authorised no further action which means again they failed to check properly as to why my bloods were being checked and look at my previous history. I find it appauling that I am having to micro manage my own care. Something is a serious miss and it potentially could be putting patients health at risk. I feel that my care is just being passed around from pillar to post. I feel the service has greatly deteriorated since it has merged and I truly feel concerned and alarmed for my future welfare and others under this shambles of a system which is obviously not working

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your comments. This is not a forum where specific patient details can be discussed. Please contact me directly at complaints.sahc@nhs.net and I can investigate the points that you have raised.

Yours sincerely,
