"A&E unsafe working practices"

About: Watford General Hospital

Attended A&E early Monday evening with chest pains have had extensive cardiac history including. 2 heart attacks feeling unwell and felt I was going to pass out

Told to wait in waiting area ....waited for hours with no observations taken

When I approached the nurse explaining I felt unwell told to wait my turn like everyone else I asked if there was a triage system in place so patients with more serious condition should be assessed more urgently

Told there is no room and to complain to patient liaison

I eventually got seen and assessed by a nurse and doctor when the doctor asked the nurse to take bloods she was told bluntly do it yourself

The doctor asked the sister to arrange for my bloods to be taken she also refused in a very unprofessional manner

I was moved to resus and admitted and cannot fault the treatment I consequently received

The treatment and attitude in A&E is a disgrace and very unsafe working practices.

This isnt an isolated incident I have had similar on previous occasions needs a radical review to improve patient safety

I’m sorry being busy isn’t an excuse every casualty department in the country is busy
