"No briefing, no efforts to relieve the patients..."

About: Mount Road Surgery

I was registered in this surgery for 2-3 years. I had an accident. Had severe back pain went to see go. Whole time gp was looking at computer screen and was swinging on the chair. She did not listen or examined me. And ask me to leave with an advice. The pain get worse day by day just because of the negligence of gp. Few months later had a knee pain and right thumb pain. I have visit surgery again for that the other doctor prescribed me naproxen, codeine and paracetamol. Which I found really helpful but only when I take medication 3 times a day. After two months prescription, whenever I ask for the medicine they simply refused to give me. I ask receptionist tell me the reason she said I am just a receptionist I told you that doctor refused and that’s it. I said but I am in pain if you don’t want to give me medicine tell me an alternative thing to get relief from pain. She start shouting me why u keep asking me go I need to serve other patients. Normally gp won’t have time to discuss these things with patients. Receptionist are the main contact but if none of them help you what will you do? When I keep insist for the medication surgery gave me prescription but did not brief why they do not wish me to take medication.

After 2-3 years I left surgery because I moved into cheadle. The surgery over there was very nice. They initially gave me prescription but after few months they refused. I ask them the same question what is the reason. They booked my appointment with go. The go explained me that if I will take this medication regularly for long it can damage my kidneys now I got the point. I ask gp I also don’t want to take medication tell me an alternative. He explained me they will take some x-rays blood test first to investigate the problem and then suggest me accordingly. I have x-rays and blood test and then gp suggest me diet plan and some other exercise to do at home. I am still having the pain but it’s level is not reduced thanks to the my surgery in cheadle.

I have been moved to Manchester again and the nearest surgery is the same surgery. I am very upset because this surgery staff is not helpful including gp. The surgery a little far I am happy to go there to registered my self but they won’t allow me.

We are very sorry you had a difficult experience at the surgery previously.

We can look into this further if you let us know your name.

Also if you contact me Jackie Lewis-Hughes (Practice Manager) I can make sure that you are registered this time with a doctor who has a particular interest in back pain.
