"First and last time"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

I was told to attend A&E to be referred to the DVT Clinic after calling the 111 service , I had landed from holiday and had a suspected blood clot , after being told this was potentially life threatening and very painful I was now worried and my huisband drove me there which took an hour

I arrived at A&E at 9.45am and was given a number and told to wait , after an hour a nurse called me to the desk to say I should move to another area as I would be seen quicker , at the same time my number had flashed up to see a triage nurse but as she called me I missed my slot, not realising this error and 3 and a half hours later I was finally seen by a doctor , for the first time that day, who then lost my notes , I was only then I was given blood tests however they missed a crucial one so had to wait again to have another blood test and wait for results ,so a further 2 hours wait to be given treatment and then told due to the time, I would now have to come back the following day for a scan

This could have all been avoided , I cannot fault the doctors who were wonderful, I am unhappy at the system which was shambolic

I would not attend this hospital again as I felt I was forgotten , thankfully I am ok, I dread to think of what could have happened if id have had a clot
