"Good for emergency, bad for on going care"

About: New Birmingham Dental Hospital

Ok first let me give the positives:

The reception staff are nice and friendly

The building is state of the art and seems well equipped

The PALS team are great and get back to you quickly

It’s good you can get an emergency appointment

The negatives however:

If you have an ongoing problem- mine was tmj - jaw joint problem, it’s no good.

You will be seen by a different dentist each time . I’m not sure if it’s really high staff turnover or if they’re newly qualified on placements like junior doctors do but it’s really disheartening having to explain everything each time

They don’t seem to keep accurate notes on what they’ve told you leading to frustration and confusion at your next appointment with a completely new person and vague misleading notes from last time

In the end I asked to be seen at a different hospital and by a different member of staff due to my frustration.

I love the nhs and worked a long time of my career for it but it seems Birmingham Dental is really a good emergency facility but no good for ongoing problems- ask to be moved to an actual hospital for that.

Thank you for your recent posting about your experience of visiting Birmingham Dental Hospital.

I am sorry your experience has been spoiled by being seen by different dentists and by your notes not being available at your appointment.
