"Shocking!"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

My stepdad was diagnosed with renal cell cancer, he treatment was terrible. No communication on his diagnosis, consultant not interested in what was happening or either explained treatment (lack of) or why certain time points were not being followed. He eventually ended up on a ward in the Osbourne building, I was shocked by the general lack of care, compassion or communication. My stepdad's cancer had spread to his bones, he was in extreme pain and agitated yet I had to repeatedly ask for pain relief which took over 3hrs to come with no explanation even when repeatedly asking what was going on. I will be submitting a formal complaint, after my stepdad passed away friends, family and acquaintances have told me their own stories of family and friends that have been through the Osbourne building and I have not heard a good word especially from people that have had to go on the wards. I believe that the LRI need to urgently address the care or lack of care in this building/department.
