"A sugery that needs a lot of improvement"

About: Lincoln Green Medical Centre

I stay with this surgery because of its convenient location to my home and work. If there was another surgery nearby, I probably would go to that one.

When I first walk in I typically see children running around and nearly running into me. Even when I wait to see the GP, there are children running around.

The admin staff, I find are helpful and really go out of their way to help. Where the surgery begins to fall apart is in three places, professional staff, appointments, and.

I have seen a few of the ANP and nurses. One ANP was great but that ANP does not attend the surgery anymore. The others I did not find very helpful and not very knowledgeable. Typically I avoid seeing any nurse or ANP at this surgery since they are an utter waste of time. The other reason I avoid seeing nurses at this practice, it seems as though the practice uses nurses as a way to save money instead of providing more GPs.

Locums, there are a few I flat out refuse to see because I find them to be lacking in the ability to treat me with dignity and involve me in treatment decisions. However a few that I have seen recently are good and luckily I know which locums to avoid.

There is one GP who is great and very thorough. However, getting to see them is very difficult

The other area for major improvement is booking an appointment. There is an online booking system but its a joke. If you are not attending an antenatal clinic or want to see the HCA, good luck in pre-booking an appointment.

This means the only way to get an appointment is by calling in at preciously 08:00 AM and if you call in at 08:00:01 AM there is no way you will get an appointment for the day. It is a very frustrating process. Also, this means unless you are willing to come in that day there is no way to pre-brook an appointment a few days into the future.

Even when I am lucky enough to get an appointment, I have waited sometimes up to 2 hours to see a GP that I have booked an appointment with.

Final area for improvement is parking. Parking at the surgery is limited, spaces are very narrow, people sometimes double parking and blocking you into your space. To complicate the problem, the area around Lincoln Green provides very limited free parking but there is paid parking next to the surgery.

Based on my experience Lincoln Green is a surgery with good admin staff. However, it does have a lot of room for improvement in the service it provides to the local community. If Lincoln Green provided more appointments with GPs who cared, instead of nurses, then I believe Lincoln Green could become a leading GP practice in Leeds.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the surgery. We are ever endeavouring to better the patient experience.

The feedback with regards to the admin staff is really helpful and I am certain will boost team morale. Unfortunately as a shared health centre we do share a reception with a walk in centre, another GP surgery, the Health Visitors, Sexual health and the Leeds IAPT department, this does indeed contribute to the lack of parking and additionally patients and service users of varying ages in the waiting area. I can suggest there is a new car park opened next door to the surgery which should ease your struggles. Additionally there is an estates strategy within the Burmantoft’s area in which we are looking collectively along with the CCG and other surgeries alike to better the building. Our pre-bookable appointments are only made available every 2 weeks and unfortunately this is due to the huge amount of patients whom do not turn up to their appointments when booked too far in advance. We do have a patient advisor looking into patients who frequently miss appointments to see if we can offer more support, hopefully therefore in the future we will be able to add more appointments for a longer time period. With regards to the Nurse Practitioner’s and Locum GP’s I would certainly like to hear more information. Of course it is only acceptable to be treated with dignity and respect so if our surgery has fallen below these standards this is something I would investigate further and certainly is not acceptable. Please therefore contact the surgery where I can gladly arrange a meeting or indeed telephone call.
