"Disorganized - patients pay the price"

About: Hill Lane Surgery

I joined this surgery because it seemed to be the only option within my postcode. The day after joining the surgery I receive a phone call about scheduling a home visit as 'my carer had called about pain in my leg'. I reply that I do not have a carer nor pain in my leg. The receptionist insists that my carer has called and that I need to be seen by a doctor.. until she realises that she is talking to the wrong patient. She called the wrong patient! Great start. Second bad experience: after having an allergic reaction and using my last non-expired EpiPen, I call Hill Lane to request a new EpiPen and am told that I can schedule a doctor's appointment for two to three weeks later to request a new one. This is live-saving emergency medication. I only manage to get an emergency prescription after calling back three times and insisting that I need it, the issue at stake: my doctor was on a holiday. Third (and hopefully final) bad experience: I recently had to get a test done and, on the day, I informed the nurse and the receptionist that I would be moving outside of the area soon. I was told not to worry as the results would take a while and to just pop by to provide my new address. When I, as advised, walk to the surgery to provide my new address I am told that there is no need for that and that I can just call for the results. When, as advised, calling Hill Lane about the test results I am told that the receptionist no longer has access to my information as I have registered with a new surgery. The new surgery, however, has no record of the test results either. Thanks to a friendly tenant at my old address who decides to forward the letter I receive the results (dated August 22nd) on September 14. In that letter I also find out that I was supposed to receive another letter with a hospital appointment date within 5 working days. The letter suggests to to call to the surgery where I got the test done with any questions but, naturally, no-one answers the phone the 3 times I try. Not that I expect calling Hill Lane would ever be of much help anyway.
