"Croydon University Hospital A & E"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was brought to the A and E with a disturbingly high blood pressure that had caused me dizziness... Nurses promptly took blood and checked my bp, asking me to wait in the waiting area. This was 4.04am. Would you believe that as at 8am I was still in the waiting area?

On enquiry, I was told 'oh you haven't reached the 6 hour wait time so there's nothing we can do...there are 10 files ahead of yours'

Upon my request to check my pressure again, which had now risen, nothing was done.

Thankfully, I was able to call my regular GP who found a 9am appointment for me.

Why then is this an accident and emergency unit if patients have to wait for eternity to get seen?

Something needs to be done and done quickly at that!
