I attended an appointment at hairmyres with regards to surgery to remove my gallbladder. The consultant ran through risks but explained that it was, as I expected, the best course of action. They said that my name would be added to the waiting list which was about 8 weeks.
Within 3 days of my initial consultation I received an appointment for my pre-op assessment for 5 weeks later. As I am trying to sort cover for my work I called to enquire roughly what dates I was likely to be booked for surgery. I was advised that no date was available for me yet and lots of people were months ahead of me and they couldn't explain why I was already being called for a pre-op potentially months early.
I completely understand that the nhs is very busy and doing an amazing job but I am disappointed not to just have been told the reality of the current waiting list. I understand that my surgery may not be as high priority as others but my pain does impact my daily life. I am a huge supporter of the nhs so please don't take this as me being ungrateful.
