An elderly female relative was admitted after having a stroke, care was fine till she had to have an operation on her neck and it all went downhill!Operation postponed a few times,op went well but care on ward after was disgraceful! Wound was not cleaned, nurses did not bath or shower her,she could not speak due to stroke so could not communicate with anyone. She lives alone but was nearly sent home without her notes being checked!MRSA test results came back days after her operation to reveal she had infact contracted mrsa, and had undergone an operation whilst having this deadly bug!During visiting i rarely seen a nurse.Being from a nursing background herself she knows the kind of care she should have had,but did not receive it.Where has the friendly nurse/patient care gone?Just a few smiles and a little day to day conversation goes a long way for somone in her condition! I am absoultely apalled at the way she was treated,as is the rest of the family.Just pleased she has now left and gone to a different hospital where the level of care and service is at the opposite end of the what she has recently had to endure! This review does not reflect the whole of the hospital as i,m only reviewing the ward my relative was on
