Have keep on calling surgery from the opening time but only got through at around 08:13 am. I requested for an appointment for my pregnant wife who is also having severe vertigo attacks and palpitations and for my 9 years old daughter who has diarrhoea like condition and could not go to school. I was told by the receptionist that there are no GP appointments available for today. As I started to explain the urgency of the matter I was abruptly interrupted by the receptionist who shouted back saying that I told you that there are no appointments available for today so no point to beg me.
I was shocked so as my wife who overheard the response. I told the receptionist that I cannot continue the conversation if I get shouted at and being spoken to so rudely. I asked her name which she told me but in the same tone. I ended the conversation as I was feeling insulted and humiliated.
We have recently changed our surgery from Bharani Medical Centre to this one for the same reason only to be treated in the same manner again by the reception staff. We have now found out that both the surgeries are a part of same group, so no wonder why we have not been treated any differently.
With this and previous experiences at Bharani Medical Centre where I was once told by the reception staff (when I called to report delay in processing my repeat prescription) that I would not die if I don't take it, I now strongly believe that reception staff in GP surgeries, in general, have this unproffessional attitude institutionally embedded in them. They think it is their right and privilege to shout and belittle patients. This disgusting behaviour leave patients and their relatives feel humiliated and angry but there seems to have no difference no matter whichever surgery you go to.
"Very rude and unproffessiona reception staff"
