"Treatment"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

The Treatment my husband had in the Ribblesdale Ward at Royal Preston Hospital was dreadful. He also had dementia and if I wasn’t on hand medication was missed or left on his locker. Left unclean and on the last day when he was in an isolation room found medication which wasn’t his on the floor so it hadn’t been deep cleaned from the last patient. Didn’t receive food that day other than a yogurt which I had to chase and no medication from breakfast time. That’s if he had some then as I wasn’t there at the time. Dressing not changed although I requested it on several occasions. It was as if he was being discharged he didn’t matter any more. He even went to the nursing home dirty.

The cancer palliative nurse was the only one who cared and I’m greatful for her help.

This is very disappointing and concerning to read.

It falls very short of the level of excellent care with compassion that we aim to offer our patients and for that I am very sorry.

Please would you consider contacting our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) so that they may liaise with the ward management team for you?

PALS can be contacted Monday to Friday 9 - 4pm on 01772 522972 and there is a voicemail facility outside those hours.

With best wishes,
