"The experience has made me too terrified to..."

About: Lister Hospital

What I liked

The delivery suites were great and would be even better if the birthing pools were working. Some midwives were great, helpful and went the extra mile.

What could be improved

I was examined 5 times during my 24 hour labour by 4 different midwives and noone realised my son was breach which lead to an emergency caesarean at the last minute which was very traumatic. Staff were overly busy and I couldn't get pain releif. Three of the midwives I saw were very rude and made me feel scared to be in their care. In the aftercare ward midwives told me different things - one told mento rest and not to go to the shower room then another told me off for not having done this. I found it hard to get advice on caring for my baby and was left on my own to look after my son when I found it next to impossible to get out of bed.

Anything else?

Staff were overworked on a busy weekend but some were amazing and some seemed to hate the fact they had to be there.

Whilst there were aspects of your care and support that were good to hear about, clearly there were other elements that didn't go as well. We will alert our maternity colleagues, but it would help if you were willing to share your feedback directly with them. Maybe you might be willing to contact us on generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net so that we can make this happen?
