"Traveling from Northern Ireland"

About: Bpas (merseyside Clinic)

When finding out I was pregnant abortion was the only option. As it's still illegal in NI I had to travel by ferry to Liverpool which was the easiest option. I was fortunate that I have a supportive partner that attended with me. I'm quite an anxious person I was literally worried sick. As I have a latex allergy I needed to be first in surgery (I opted for a surgical) this meant I had to have the consultation the day before then the procedure to follow. I was worried sick that something terrible would happen as all my research had to be done online as abortion is not talked about here and all that I found was horror stories. I couldn't of been more wrong the staff were so welcoming and comforting to me. I was very nervous before the procedure and cried with nerves and fear but the staff gave me great comfort and made me feel so at ease. I would recommend if getting a surgical have the sedation this was a great help. I can remember the procedure and it was not painful more uncomfortable. I was in surgery for all of 5 minutes. Afterwards I had extremely strong painful cramps but in the observation area I was given pain relief and it eased immediately. I spent all of 10 minutes here and was allowed to get dressed and meet my partner for my aftercare. I left the clinic feeling fine no pain or discomfort. A few light pains for a week or so but nothing unbareable and was managed by pain relief. I did bleed on and off for a couple of weeks which I wasn't sure was normal, I had to call the after care team which was also very helpful and reassured me. I had my procedure in March time and made a full recovery with no concerns. I'm not one for posting review but feel it's necessary as there is so many bad things online and hardly any good. I can assure all women especially from NI you will receive the highest standard and safe care here. I can't thank the staff enough for the kindness and support given to me.
