"Unable to see the nurse for a week!"

About: Kingsbridge Medical Centre

So I go to hospital to have a operation wound checked. They change the dressing and advise me to call the GP to arrange to see the Nurse in 3 days to have my dressing changed. I call, speak to an un-helpful receptionist who advises me that the earliest appointment is in a week's time. I tell her that's no good as the hospital were very clear that it should be in 3 days as they've got a new dressing and they want it checked in 3 days. The receptionist then advises me that they can fit me in today, the day I've had a new dressing! She then suggested that they would contact some other clinics to see if they could fit me in but she couldn't even let me know if they would ring me. Finally suggested that I go to Heywood (which is in Burslem some 30 min away) walk in clinic on Friday for the dressing change. If you voted Tory then shame on you because this is caused by people like you!

Thank you for your feedback.

Dressing appointments are available as part of general Practice Nurse clinics and we do aim to have sufficient availability to meet the known demand for this service from patients.

From time to time factors such as increased demand from patients and nurse availability result in all available dressing slots being booked.

On these occasions we do try to assist by offering patients an alternative.

We are sorry that you were unable to book a dressing appointment on the day you required and that the alternative option offered to you was not suitable.
