"Efficient and professional A&E service"

About: Chard Hospital Musgrove Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Musgrove Park Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I presented to Chard Minor Injuries with a urinary condition. They promptly assessed an appropriate course of action, undertook tests, and explained that my best couse of action was to present to A&E at Musgove Park.

I presented to A&E on Sunday with a urinary condition. I was in a poor state, having had very little sleep, and quite distressed. There were a large number of people in the waiting area and I assumed the wait for attention would be several hours.

The lady at reception was efficient and attentive and directed me to a quiet waiting area where I could have a degree of privacy.
In less than 20 minutes I was called to triage where a very sympathetic nurse noted my condition and arranged for me to have suitable clothing and a quiet room to wait in. Within a short space of time another two nurses undertook further assessments. Both were very efficient and professional.
My case was referred to Dr. Foley who listened, was compassionate and attentive, despite the obvious work pressure he was under. He efficiently assessed my condition and by his second visit had ascertained an appropriate course of action by which to follow it up. As importantly he was patient and clearly explained to me the anatomical details of my condition, so that I left feeling positive and informed.
I have nothing but praise for the staff in Taunton A&E whom I met on that day and wish to express my thanks and appreciation for their care.

Hello and thank you for telling us about your experience at Chard Minor Injuries Unit and Musgrove Park Hospital.

I will pass the feedback across to the Minor Injuries Unit Manager to share with the team - they are really pleased to hear comments directly from patients and I am so glad you felt that it was a prompt process for you.

I will let Musgrove respond to you directly but it is really good to hear that the services are working well together too.

I hope you are now making a smooth recovery,

Jenny, Patient and Public Involvement Officer for Somerset Partnership (covering Chard Minor Injuries Unit)

Dear AHH

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, Sunday was an incredibly busy day for us as you could see by the waiting room, but what a difficult day for you. Part of the reason I came to work in Musgrove Park was the compassion of the staff. I'm glad we were able to ensure you were treated in a sensitive manner, from reception through to discharge, despite the business of the department. I hope you are recovering well.

Regards

Louise

Thank you for sharing your positive experience of A&E at Musgrove Park. I have forwarded you feedback directly on to the Matron of the department, and shared your positive feedback with Dr Foley.

I am pleased that despite being unwell you left feeling fully informed and and positive about your experience. I do hope that you are making a good recovery.

If I hear any feedback from either member of staff I will post their response on here. Thank you once again for taking the time to give us feedback.

Kerry
