"Wet macular degeneration after IOL surgery."

About: Newmedica NHS North Lincolnshire CCG

(as the patient),

After treatment by an agent for the NHS for a condition in my right eye, where they operated on both my eyes, I am now left after 6 months of complaint to them with what they have diagnosed Wet Macular Degeneration in my previously good eye, my Right one.

Now I have been referred to my local NHS hospital under  *Treatment must be started  within 2 weeks procedure* I kept telling the agents for NHS that there was something going seriously wrong with my Left eye and they just ignored me. I even sent them an e-mail refusing to be seen by a certain consultant because I felt they treated me like a *second class old lady* I am very down, having been told that this condition can cause blindness. I have a black spot in my central vision in my Left eye and cannot see even my own face, making now impossible to apply any eye make-up.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the concerns you have raised regarding your treatment plan. Clearly we can’t comment on your individual care on this website but we would be really keen to look into your concerns so we can provide you with a full response and help as much as we can.

The development of wet-AMD is likely to occur naturally, any clinical indication would be addressed immediately by our clinicians.

Please can you contact the Governance Team – on 0207 871 6622 or via email: newmedica.governance@nhs.net as we would like to investigate this matter further.
