"Mental Health and GP in Norfolk"

About: Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health Norfolk PCT

(as a relative),

my partner went back to the GP because of her deteriating condition. She was by this point absolutely distraught and crying. GP asked to see her alone and for first few minutes left her and continued with what they had been doing previously. They then called her mother in with her and apparently told her to grow up, act like a someone in their 20ies year old and not act like a teenager would. She needed help desperately and I cant tell you how it set her back. It took her immense courage to beat her panic to walk back into Surgery.

Now I am having problems getting her to go back in and her experience set her back no end. Devastating. I felt she needed care, attention not someone judging her. In my view there was no offer of support or help. We feel alone. When after a terrible night of severe agitation we rang 2 days later, GP told us roughly there was nothing else they could do, gave us a number for Wellbeing in Norwich and wished her a merry Xmas. I felt that was disgusting.

Being heavily pregnant I'd have thought should mean she needs help ASAP. There seems to be no provision for Perinatal mental health in this area and I do feel it is a vastly ignored problem.

If we lived say in Liverpool, I read there is specialist Mental Health Antenatal support. As it stands we feel nothing is being done and aside from the support of another GP in the practice and her amazing Midwife, honestly feel abandoned. I want my partner back.
