"Admitted to a & e with chest pains"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Was taken to a and e via ambulance with chest pains , was seen in about a 40 mins where I was seen by a nurse who took my bp and did a ecg and the then someone else came and took my bloods . I was then told to sit in a corridor on a hard metal chair and I would be seen . Someone came and took my boys again after about another 2 hours while still sat in a corridor . After being there 3 and half hours we was told the waiting time to see a doctor was 5 and half hour . I am disgusted at the fact that I have heart problems and had previous heart attacks that I was just left in a corridor with no checks or monitoring. I ended up leaving the hospital after the 3 and had hours without seeing a doctor as my pain was subsiding. When my wife spoke to the sister about this she just said well it is busy and I have a ward to run, there was no compassion towards us at all and I think the lack of care I received was disgusting the drunks were getting beds but someone with already heart problems was made to sit in a chair and with only blood pressure taken . Luckily my heart pain subsided and it was probably just my angina but I will get my results from my gp and go from there . I would never want to be taken to a md e again unless it was my last resort .i live 5 minutes from dewsbury hospital but can’t be taken there this is not pinderfields fault but think the way they have changes where a ambulance can take you is disgusting but if my wife had of taken me to dews I would have been seen and I would have probably had better treatment there as they have always checked me out properly and monitored me closely in the past . Just really unhappy with the treatment I received

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your visit to A&E services at Pinderfields Hospitals.

It is clear from your posting that you have been left frustrated and disappointed with the care and treatment provided to you and for that I am sincerely sorry.

I can only imagine how anxious you must have been feeling especially with your medical history and to have been left in a corridor is not the high quality of service the Trust aims to provide.

Given that this is a public website, it would be inappropriate to go into personal details.

Therefore, I wondered if you would like to contact our PALS team to discuss your concerns and to look at instigating an investigation to find out where things could be improved.

If you feel you would like to contact our PALS team, their contact telephone number is 01924 542972 or via email on myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.uk.

Thank you again and I wish you well for the future.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
