My gratitude and thanks to St Peters Hospital for my recent treatment for a kidney stone, diagnosed on the 23rd June on being admitted to A&E with severe pain and though completely unconnected, within a week of undergoing minor heart surgery at the Royal Brompton.
Day surgery for Uteroscopic laser fragmentation and insertion of a stent soon followed on the 16th July, but equipment failure meant I would have to return.
The second operation on the 3rd August was successful and the stent removed on the 7th August.
Unfortunately, the following day I had to return to A&E with a raised temperature.
Without delay I was admitted to the Surgical Assessment Unit and treatment begun for an infection before I was transferred to Kingfisher Ward where I was looked after until discharged on the 10th August with a course of antibiotics. The attention and care I received from the Urology Team throughout this very trying period and from so many of you in A&E, Kingfisher Ward, Surgical Assessment Unit, CT scanning, Haematology, Pharmacy, Booking Office, Catering, Cleaning was superb and humbling for me.
Thank-you.
You all do a wonderful job.
"My kidney stone experience."
