"Radiotherapy"

About: Western General Hospital / Radiotherapy

(as a service user),

My daughter is going through cancer treatment for the third time she started radiotherapy every session has been 30 mins to an hour past her stated time. One day she said her name and time and the n/ a didn’t even check her in so she waited over an hour. I know this is an extremely busy place but even if someone came and said to the people waiting we’re running late it wouldn’t be so bad only once has this happened there is a sheet saying that appointments might be late but isn’t very visible surely every day they can’t be running late some people don’t live local and have to get public transport. This seems to happen la 4 and la 5 seems to have this problem.  I don’t mean to complain but if no one says anything about this it’ll never get sorted

Dear Hip and Knee

I am so sorry that this has been your daughter's experience, which will have made a difficult time for her significantly more challenging.

I will discuss with the team to ensure that we have a process in place to alert patients and their relatives to any delays being experienced.

I am grateful to you for bringing this to our attention.

Catriona Rostron

Nurse Director

Western General Hospital
