Last week I attended an appointment to get a Gastroscopy- this was due to pain in my right hand side.
As with any procedure I was nervous, however the staff at the reception were all friendly and made me feel welcome. I had a chance to ask any questions, so this helped too.
For the procedure a clinical support worker (Sandra ) got me from the waiting and took me another area to wait to be called. Sandra was so very nice with me and was talking away with me. This put me at ease, and helped me a great deal. (Sandra had no idea how much I appreciated this). I felt this was great patient care.
When I was called for the procedure I was greeted by two nurses, who were brilliant as well. The two of them were had a great bedside manner, very comforting and reassuring with me.
The procedure itself although it's not pleasant was over with very quickly, and the doctor carrying it was very nice too.
Although I didn't have any contact with them, I feel praise should be given to all staff that work in the hospital, as every person/job is equally important to keep things running.
