my Elderly mother was admitted after a fall and being in severe pain. X-rays have showed no breakages but she is unable to stand un assisted. I have been to visit her this evening and a nurse came along with a discharge letter. I explained that she is still unable to stand and that she lives alone. The nurse said well she can walk. My mother is in tears of pain and it’s only because I have caused a fuss they have let her stay in another night and is to be re assessed tomorrow. We were told that she would be sent for MRI scans to check which has now all been forgotten about. I can’t believe the medical staff are willing to discharge her when she is clearly in visible pain and unable to move without assistance. I am extremely disappointed that everything we were told on admission has been completely forgotten about and the staff are rolling their eyes when I ask a question or say
anything to them like I am being a nuisance. I had previously been told over the telephone that she would be in for a few more days at least and they would transfer her onto a ward once a bed became available and then I arrive to find they are trying to discharge her at 6 o clock at night. I understand there is a bed shortage but a little more communication wouldn’t go a miss.
