"Cancelled appointment at short notice"

About: Hillview Surgery

2-3 weeks ago I booked a medication review by telephone via reception. To my surprise, I was booked to see a nurse for the medication review - I questioned this and was advised that this was correct & a GP appointment was not needed.

Today - with just over 24 hours notice, my appointment has been cancelled by a receptionist, telephoning me to advised that my appointment is cancelled " as the nurse has to go to a meeting". When I asked if I could have one month's medication & then book another appointment, I was advised this was not possible & I would need to speak to the surgery pharmacist tomorrow - they would ring me back during the day. I advised that I work in a GP surgery elsewhere and would not be available to take a call as I would be busy seeing patients myself - 5 days a week &

I am only available to come to the surgery after 4.30pm Tues & Thursday - and yes, you guessed it, this surgery is closed from 1pm on a Thursday.

So, I have to take time out from seeing to patients or use time in my meal break to speak to a pharmacist to get a medication review done so I can continue my regular medication that has already run out. I booked a routine appointment in advance - not taken an emergency slot - and at the last minute the surgery has let me down by cancelling it with no clear or convenient way to solve the problem or for any good reason.

Come on Hillview Surgery - I've done my part - now it's time for you to do yours! This is an appalling way to run appointments. I feel marginalised and unable to access basic GP surgery services. Total dissatisfied!!!
