What I liked
The breast Surgeons and breast Oncologists are faultless - technically excellent and unusually willing to treat patients as individuals to be engaged with in decisions about their care. Unfortunately the excellence of the team is let down by the breast care nurses and admin staff who expect patients to adhere to their paternalistic expectations.
I could not care less about the standard of hospital food and how 'nice' healthcare personnel are which seem to be the focus of the standard questions allowed for on this feedback q'aire - these matters amount only to matters superfluous to whether clinical excellence is achieved. What I care about is the excellence of oncological knowledge, surgical skill and willingness to make decisions 'with' and not 'about' their patients. I want to be confident that clinical outcome is maximised and will willingly suffer a few substandard hospital meals if this is delivered. Consultant doctors deliver on these metrics. Breast care nurses seem to lag significantly.
What could be improved
The knowledge of breast care nurses and their ability to treat patients as individuals, not the homogeneous mass of emotional wrecks they seem to think we should be.
"Consultant care was excellent, nursing care was..."
