"Good luck getting an appointment"

About: The Lawson Practice

Having been happy using this surgery for the last 2 years, I am feeling incredibly frustrated with their new booking system. You have have 2 options to make appointments. The first option is to use their online booking system. I have no logins for this, and no one will help me. Despite going into the surgery twice to discuss and asking for the IT man to call me back, no one can resolve this for me and I never received a call back. So the second option is to call at 8am. This is for urgent appointments only, and after sitting on hold for half an hour, you have to convince the receptionist (that is not a qualified doctor) that your case is urgent. I feel disrespected.

I have health issues, and I cannot speak to anyone about it unless it is via a phone call (which is really inappropriate when I am at work). I do not have any privacy at work to talk about ovarian cysts. And I cannot get an appointment ever for steroid injections for my arthritis because it is never urgent enough for a same day appointment, and I cannot discuss with a doctor. I am so frustrated, I have no one I can ask questions except Dr google. Thanks Lawsons Practice for really letting down.

We are sorry you are struggling with the appointments. All new systems can be difficult and we have had major teething problems with this new system. Please see comments made in response to others. The system is not for urgent appointments only and you do not need to convince the receptionist. The reason we ask for a description of the problem you are telephoning about is so that we can ensure the correct person responds to you. This should speed up the process of being able to address problems. Some patients may ring to try and sort an administrative problem for example, and we can put their call straight to the person that can solve the problem. As we say, the system is not only for urgent problems and so if you need injections for your arthritis this should be arranged with the doctor who talks to you. Please do come and talk to us about this so that we can get you IT help for the on-line system and get you an appointment for your steroid injections.
