On Tuesday 7th August my husband and I had 15 mins appointments each .with one of the GPs , these were originally booked with our usual GP. My appointment was quick but relies on future podiatry appointment to follow. However my husband's consultation was seriously inadequate and I feel the attention paid or more the lack of attention has undermined the hard work that his usual GP had put in to trying to help my husband with his deteriorating health problems and his addiction to alcohol and help me support him . We had come primarily to have results of CT explained and this was passed off as with a cursory nothing usual for his age and no explanation of results was offered .
The CT appointment was made as a first step on diagnosing if he is developing dementia no attempt to follow up was made . Nor any reference was made to regime of exercise eating and alcohol consumption his usual GP had advised . I understand his problem is partly of his own making but I left feeling let down and unsupported in all respects of trying to help him . Considering we had 30 min booked for the two appointments i doubt we were inside doctor more than 15
