"Minor Injuries Clinic DISASTER!"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Accident and emergency

I have tragus ear piercing and earring back had fallen into my ear canal and become stuck. Advised to attend minor injuries clinic at St James. The nurse who came to treat me (?!), after having a quick look and letting me know he could see it, left to return with a pair of tweezers which tbh when seeing them I instantly felt uncomfortable about. They were big clumsy looking things (yet stiĺl plenty sharp enough) - though to be fair, the concern could maybe have been my nerves at the time also. On attempting to remove the object in my ear canal the nurse did not ask to position me in any way to give good stability, which I wonder now might have helped him. I was sat on a plastic chair and the nurse clearly was having trouble getting to and removing earring back, when I suddenly felt the *sharp pain* of these tweezers being accidentally pushed too far or the wrong way / slipping and jabbing. Blood was dripping out of my ear all over the floor and already quite nervous I was very upset. I ended up with referral to return next day to relevant dept. and admitted 3-4 days on ward til operating theatre slot free. Slight damage / hole to my ear drum was mentioned at the time and it hasn't been same since
