"Home First - Care in the home"

After my mother returned from hospital, she was referred to 'Home First'. From the next day, care workers came in 4 times a day. After a thorough assessment, she was visited by an Occupational Therapist, a District Nurse, to do her blood pressure and change her dressing where she had had a hip replacement and a physiotherapist is also coming out.

We cannot thank Home First enough for the practical support, helping her to dress and cooking a meal with her each lunchtime. The district nurse has been friendly and approachable and has given advice such as contacting my mother's surgeon because her wound hasn't healed as well as it should. The Occupational Therapist came to see her, and from this visit he organised a rail to help her get out of bed, a leg lifting device, a shower stool and a perching stool to enable her to prepare food in the kitchen.

This service is second to none when giving elderly people the chance to live independently in their own homes. We cannot praise them enough.
