My son was recently a patient on ward L1 of this hospital and I am writing this review to commend all the staff involved in providing him with care and support throughout his stay.
From the cleaning staff who kept the wards and toilets clean and tidy and did so under quite challenging circumstances at times to the security staff who when needed provided patients and staff with good-humoured, respectful support and a sense of presence that enabled everyone to feel safe without feeling anxious.
The nurses and doctors were consistently warm, reassuring and patient. Attention to detail helped make patients care very personal and comfortable. For example, offering patients additional drinks because the weather was warm to keep them comfortable and releasing fans which had been provided for staff for patient use because of the very warm weather. Sitting with patients and offering reassurance when they were distressed or confused.
and making time in the midst of a multitude of tasks to respond to patients individual requests, for example, to be taken outside in a wheelchair for a breath of fresh air.
Staff were very supportive of one another and maintained a lovely sense of humour despite at times having to deal with challenging patients and situations. This helped to make the ward feel calm and welcoming and made it easy to feel able to approach staff.
Although my son's behaviour was at times quite challenging, nursing and medical staff were kind, compassionate and caring to him at all times and endeavoured under difficult circumstances to respect his privacy and dignity and involve him in decisions about his care. Their professionalism was a credit to them and to their profession.
"High standards of patient care and kindness and..."
