"Lack of care in Rotherham hospital"

Having just read the account by Dave P about the dreadful care his relative received in Rotherham Hospital 3 years ago, I believe that absolutely nothing has changed since then.

I found exactly the same 'couldn't give a toss' attitude with my mother who died not long after leaving there in August 2011.

Dear Jan J, thank you for your recent posting on Patients Opinion. We are very concerned to learn that your experience of our services prior to your Mother’s death last August has given you such great cause for concern and apologise for the distress this has clearly caused you.

We have looked back at the posting of three years ago you referred to and are able to confirm that whilst a follow up posting did not appear on Patient Opinion, we were able to work with Dave P to directly address his concerns and in addition to working with the relevant ward regarding their practice and standards, a learning event for senior staff was facilitated in partnership with Patient Opinion, which both he and his Mother attended. Since then we have developed a system of reviewing our wards on a regular basis and taking the relevant action necessary if any aspects of care are found wanting.
