What I liked
Just getting an appointment for a blood test is an unforgettable experience at Finchley Hospital.
Referred by my GP and given two number for booking.. 020 8349 7461/7462 seams simple enough. However, when I called either number all I got was engaged. After over of hour of trying repeatedly, still got engaged tone. Finally, got the number for Finchley Memorial central desk by google-ing) and managed to contact the pathology desk. It was amassing to be told that for a fasting blood test the next appointment available will be after twenty days.
What is the point of having all these administrators when a two minute operation can only be done here after 20 days? It's a diabolical situation.
NHS needs to look deeply at the management, service and staff quality at this Hospital's Pathology department.
N.B. It took me only one minute to get my call answered at Barnet Hospital and get a booking after two days.
What could be improved
Analyses the Pathology department (blood testing) process, procedures and desk staff operation in relation to demand and quality from taking a booking to completing the test.
Basically, learn from what is taking place at the Barnet Hospital.
