"It was a distraction for me, I hadn’t been out of my room for a year"

About: Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women

(as the patient),

I helped show the judges round our garden for the Sense of Community Award.  I was very nervous but in the end I said I would do it.  It was a distraction for me as I hadn’t been out of my room for a year and it was two years since I’d been in the garden.  I didn’t feel anxious and the staff very supportive.  I received a certificate of “outstanding contribution”

I was so imptressed to read this, Wservice27. An amazing step forward. It must have felt at the time to be a big decision. For me, the point you make that stands out the most is, "I didn’t feel anxious and the staff very supportive."

What a brilliant achievement for you, such a huge thing for you to do – you should be proud of this! I am pleased that you also felt supported by the staff to do this, it's amazing what can be done when we all work together.

It’s been lovely to see all the work that has been done in the gardens around the Women’s Service for the Sense of Community Project.
