"Maternity care / miscarriage"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Sadly whilst on holiday I suffered a miscarriage at 12 weeks and 5 days. I had to visit a hospital abroad, which was a very daunting experience. I called Ayrshire Maternity Outpatients to ask for advice and was relieved to hear the friendly voice of Laura who reassured and calmed me. She contacted EPAS the next morning for me passing on my notes meaning I didn’t have to explain anything on arrival which was a relief. I was met by Heather and Jacquie in EPAS who were fantastic. Their kind, caring support put me at ease. They listened patiently and answered all my questions. I can’t thank the staff at AMU enough for everything they did for us at such a sad, distressful time. The staff did all they could and it was comforting to be met by someone who understood and empathised.

Dear CK40

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your baby, and that you were away from home on holiday at the time, which would have made it even more difficult.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us that we were able to help in what way we could in terms of care, compassion and support once you were home.

I will ensure this is passed on to them

take care

Geraldine
