Only last year I left 5 star review for NUH A&E and it's sad to see the difference year down the line. Feels like there new system in place? If it Is it ain't working. Either that or it's not being managed properly and staff need more training. They need to be more clued on to crohns/UC conditions and the complications from treatments like biologicals that we are on. On two occasions last year I came in with severe abdominal pain that could be serious like bowel obstruction...it wasn't...but the pain alone was enough to send me to majors and get instant pain relief and other meds. Today... I told reception staff I had passed out due to severe abdo pain and vomitting n diarrhoea. He just marked me down as vomiting n diarrhoea...not clinically urgent in anyone's eyes...then I was signposted to a nurse practitioner-didn't know about biologicals etc I explained that I had severe non shifting headaches and neck pain with swelling to face n hands since my treatment few days ago to which she responded oh I'll just put down you've not been feeling well...! Really -again who would look at that and think this patient needs urgent care!. Told to wait for blood test...took 2 hours just for that! Was whole 4 hours of agonising pain before I saw a Dr.....
There needs to be better system in place for immunosuppressed patients rather than keeping them in waiting rooms. Also the level of pain we are in ...maybe get us In give us pain relief...
