"Uncaring attitude on the phone"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was 12 weeks pregnant. She was told that there was no heartbeat and advised to telephone Doncaster Early Pregnancy unit in Doncaster. She was upset understandably. The person answering the telephone had an unacceptable and  totally uncaring attitude. The person asked someone else in the room to discuss, while my daughter was listening on the telephone. I am going to follow this up and make a formal complaint about the lack of care, understanding, cruel, unprofessional attitude.Totally shameful .

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your daughters recent experience with Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Please accept our apologies, this is not the level of service we expect our patients to receive. We pride ourselves on the high quality of care delivered by our staff and are disappointed that this was not the case in your situation.

Your comments have been passed to the Head of Nursing who will share with the team. It would be helpful to get some more information, would you please contact the Patient Experience Team on Freephone 0800 028 8059 or by e-mail: dbth.pals.dbh@nhs.net.

With best wishes

Gill
