"New patient expeience"

About: Cowplain Family Practice

I joined this practice on the 2nd July 2018 and was ALLOTED a doctor. On my first appointment I felt I was like an Old dog at the Vet. The doctor was robotic impersonal and gave me the impression he was just going through the motions. After about 15 min he interrupted me and told me we had run out of time and the pain I was experiencing in my arms would have to wait to my next appointment which he said he would make.

On the 18th June, giving up hope of an appointment still and suffering with pain in my shoulders which was getting worse I made an appointment to see this character agian on the 1st August.

On entering the room he made no attempt at welcome but mearly stared at me. So began. I had a list of things that had gone wrong with my prescription and to be fair he did apologise but in a very blank faced manner which was slightly chilling,

He then examined me and tested my reflexes and arms. At one point his voice rose and he said loudly WHY ARE YOU SHAKING!

I explained that I had Essential Tremor which he had been informed of at our previous appointment. I found this behavior disconcerting.

He then proceeded to TELL me he was sending me to a Physio without asking my opinion and knowing I had already had 2 course of physio over the past 2 years. Another course would have been a waste of time and money, I thought I was being kicked into the long grass !

As I was trying to explain he rudely interrupted and said " could we be brief " !!

Given that I am a new patient I feel this was objectionable behavior !

To crown it all he again said that the appointment was over, and blankly stared at me with not a word of goodbye, I felt as if I was a servant being dismissed from the Masters presence!

To conclude I feel this person lacks Empathy,is Rude, does not engender TRUST and is in the wrong job. I do not want him anywhere near my medical treatment !!

I asked at the practice if I could change doctors and was told that I MIGHT be ALLOWED if I wrote to the practice manager giving derails. This will be done but only to let them know I have found another practice that puts patients wellbeing first .

I am sorry to hear that you do not feel that your appointments at Oaks Healthcare have gone as well as you would have liked. Unfortunately appointments are limited to 10 minutes per patient; we would like to spend longer with our patients but we would not be able to see as many people which would lead to longer waiting times to see a doctor. We do ask that any patient who feels strongly that they would like to change their GP to put their request in writing to the Operations Managers, as we are only able to review these on an individual basis. As we do consider these case by case, we can offer no guarantee that your request will be granted.

I am unable to comment on any clinical aspects on anonymous reviews as I cannot review the issue, however, you are welcome to write to the surgery and your points will be addressed accordingly.
