What I liked
Post surgery put in the gynae ward. No obs taken, nor checked for bleeding, not given an emergency buzzer within reach. When pain relief requested the nurse said yes but dealt with one patient discharge who was complaining someone had removed her prescriptions from her locker. No pain relief given for over 1 hour after multiple requests to the same nurse. Head nurse walked past and saw I was crying from the pain. She gave me liquid morphine and gave me the buzzer. Other nurse rushed over and feigned apology. The nurse was not reprimanded for her poor nursing.
Blood on the floor in the bathroom took over three hours to be cleaned. I had to walk twice the distance to use other facilities 3 hours post surgery. Sick and dizzy after walking to the bathroom, my poor boyfriend had to go to the trolley for a sick bowel as no one was answering the buzzer.
What could be improved
Quality of nursing. Plenty of nurses doing a poor quality job. Waste of Nhs money. Give them attitude and quality training. How about performance appraisals and performance management that include specific patient feedback?
Anything else?
I will be getting private health insurance so I never experience service like this again.
"Poor nursing, could endanger lives."
