"Lack of support through pregnancy."

About: Church View Surgery Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as the patient),

This is my 1st pregnancy. I was previously told due to medical conditions that I may struggle to conceive in the future.

I feel that I am being severely let down by both my GP and NHS hospital, (well in my opinion).

The issue is that I am registered at a GP in one district area but live in another.I have also chosen to give birth in the hospital in the area in which my GP is.I have no community midwife.I feel I have had no-one to offer support - GP tell me to ring hospital and hospital tell me to call GP.I am now nearly 27 weeks pregnant and have not once been measured, weighed or had routine check ups. I have not yet even discussed a birth plan - and doubt I'll even get to discuss one.Because of my laid back nature, I try to contact the GP and Hospital - but when having to make 100+ calls to even get through, I refuse to carry on.I dont even know what to do when I go into labour?! Who do i call? According to a nurse I recently saw at the hospital for Glucose Test, they stated I should have an appointment with midwife at 28 weeks and further scan at 30-32 weeks. Not one of these I have received appointment letters for.

After paying taxes and national insurance from the age of 16 and being in Full- time work since then, I feel I deserve better treatment and surely deserve to get some kind of support from the services I help pay for. ..but until one of them pull their fingers out and help, I'll just sit back and await this babys sweet arrival!

Thank you for your comments, I would be grateful if you could contact the practice direct so I can look into this further.

To my knowledge we only have 1 patient who is registered outside of the practice area.

Please contact me at the practice to discuss your comments and concerns.

Regards, Jayne Riley, Site Manager

Thank you so much for letting us know of your experiences during your pregnancy. I am really concerned to read you do not feel you have been supported during your pregnancy by both your GP and your hospital. We would appreciate discussing this in more details with you so we can gather some more information and get you the correct support in place. Could you please contact our Patient Experience Team on Freephone 0800 028 8059 or by e-mail: dbth.pals.dbh@nhs.net.
