"Shuttleworth ward angels"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

My 19 year old daughter left yesterday after 5 weeks on the ward. Since an accident 22 months ago left her completely paralysed, she has had her fair share of stays in hospital and hates it. However, the care, kindness, compassion and respect she received while on Shuttleworth was, quite frankly, incredible, so much so, she actually didn’t mind the lengthy visit. Equally, the respect shown to myself, as her full time carer, was beyond anazing. Everyone, from cleaner to nurse in charge, were just wonderful; I would actually struggle to find words complimentary enough to acknowledge the work they do. They have the patience of saints and are truly angels in tabards. Having had an excruciatingly emotional and painful experience at LCH in the past, my trust has now been fully restored and I hope the powers that be realise how incredibly valuable their staff are. If I had to choose a ‘shining star’ commendation for a single member of the team, I couldn’t; there were just too many shining stars on that ward and they all deserve the upmost praise. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for looking after our baby girl who has already been through far too much for a teenager.

This is beautiful feedback and makes me a very proud Ward Sister.

Our staff try their best every day and sometimes under difficult circumstances. We acknowledge that we don’t always get it right and we learn from those instances.

This statement of thanks makes all our hard work worthwhile, to know that we made a small difference in someone’s care.

Both your daughter and you are lovely people, going through extraordinary circumstances. I hope that your daughter's recovery continues to move forward and that she doesn’t experience any further set-backs.

Kind regards

Tina Griffiths
