"Praise for beatson cancer helpline and wishaw A&E"

About: The Lanarkshire Beatson University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I would like to praise the beatson cancer treatment helpline and the staff at wishaw general A&E.

My papa had been feeling very tired and not right from lunch time, I took his observations and phoned the beatson cancer treatment helpline as he is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment there. On hearing that he had a temperature and high compared to average pulse rate the girl on the phone stated to attend our nearest A&E and faxed over all his notes and phoned ahead with his symptoms to ensure we were taken promptly. On arrival at wishaw the staff were very friendly and my papa was promptly taken into triage for further obs and bloods, I cannot thank the staff enough for his quickly they dealt with everything despite the large volume of patients in the waiting room. The staff on the help line and at A&E were all very helpful and maintained seamless care between the 2 services. Great service!

Dear Kmac93,

Many thanks for taking the time to post the experience of your papa during his visit to the Emergency Department.

I am delighted that you found that his care was seamless and that the staff were friendly and that their was good collaborative working with the cancer helpline.

I hope that things have settled and he is improving.

I will ensure this is shared with the Senior Charge Nurse and staff within ED.

Best wishes

Andy
