What I liked

We sadly lost my Grandmother in the George Eliot Hospital on 28th October 2011 but not before she had outstanding care on Nason Ward.

I am pleased to say that our dealings with the hospital right back since January 2009 when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer have been nothing but positive.

It would have been so easy for the oncology unit to have stopped giving appointments and scans given that the cancer was in-operable.

The way we were delt with dealt with between 24th October and losing her on the 28th was simply outstanding.

Right from the time of being taken to A and E there was a genuine feeling of care and compassion given by all the staff.

When it was evident that she was in her final decline again the level of compassion from the Nason Ward, the team gave us such comfort.

It is never easy to lose someone close and whilst I know that the staff is working towards the Liverpool End of Care Pathway, yet, it was the personal touch, compassion and empathy that the staff brought to the situation that was so special for us.

I was once told it’s not what you do but how you make people feel that counts and the whole team made us feel comfort and support.
