Since moving to Somerset in 2011 I have noticed a dramatic change in the Mental Health Services. I have chronic depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
When I moved into the area I was referred to The Bridge Day Hospital in Wells. I found the services that were provided really helped me cope with my illness. The art and pottery groups were very helpful as well as meeting people who were having similar problems to you. I felt it was a safe house and I wouldn't be judged or stigmatized.
But since the Bridge closed, I haven't been able to cope as well with my stress. In 2007, I was admitted to Phoenix Ward. I found the O.T groups very helpful and I learnt coping skills with the O.T's. But when I was discharged after 7 weeks I gradually started feeling worse. I was appointed an amazing Care Co-coordinator whom I trusted.
I feel lonely and isolated. I do not have any friends who I can open up to. When the Bridge was open, it was very useful. I have been told that I rely too much on the CHMT which is a surprise to me, I need Day Services ASAP.
