My wife and I attended the labour ward for the birth of our first child. We had a birth plan which was partly based on a hypno-birth class which we had attended (hypno-birth class was very useful, would be great if the NHS offered it).
We had two midwives, one on the night shift and one on the morning shift and they were both very supportive and very respectful of our birth plan.
In the end the baby needed a little bit of help with some forceps which was disappointing but the whole thing was handled very well by the doctor and midwife and they explained things to us very well and helped us understand what was being done and why.
Overall a very good experience and I commend all of the staff that we interacted with that day
"Excellent experience on a labour ward"
